Pixie Lillas

Pixie Lillas

Pixie Lillas started yoga in 1976 with Dona Holleman in Italy and first went to the Ramamani Iyengar Memorial Yoga Institute in Pune, India in 1977. She co-founded the Balmain Iyengar Yoga Studio in 1980 and has been director and principal teacher there ever since. As well as teaching at the BYS Pixie runs teacher training courses and workshops in Australia and in Europe. She has been closely involved with the BKS Iyengar Yoga Association since it started in 1985 and with the running of assessments for teacher certification since that time. Pixie continues to go back to study with the Iyengars on an almost yearly basis. She currently holds a Junior Advanced certificate.


Christine D’Aran

Christine D'Aran

Christine D’Aran is a Junior Intermediate level 3 Iyengar Yoga teacher. She has been practising over 20 years with the Balmain Iyengar Yoga Studio & teaching for 16 years. A few different career paths led to the challenge of diverse interests being met by this style of yoga. Share the dynamic enjoyment.


Juliet Cobb

Juliet Cobb

Juliet has practiced yoga for 20 years and came to appreciate it more deeply when her children were young. The support and 'me time' yoga offered at this stage of life was a revelation. Juliet completed her teacher training with Pixie in 2003 and has assisted with the Remedial class and taught Beginners and Level 1 classes at the Balmain Iyengar Yoga Studio since 2004. She has an Introductory Level 2 certificate.


Charles Hunter

Charles Hunter

Charles started practicing Iyengar yoga after being injured playing soccer in 1999. He enjoyed the classes so much that after he had recovered from injury he continued to attend classes and his passion and interest has grown from there. Charles has been attending Pixies classes since 2005 and is completing his teaching apprenticeship with her. Charles is a Certified Introductory Level Two teacher.


Simon Joannou

Simon Joannou

Simon Joannou is a full time Iyengar Yoga teacher trained to Junior Intermediate Level Two and has been practicing Iyengar Yoga since the mid 90s. He has done all his teacher training under Pixie Lillas and continues to study with her. He has also studied in Pune, India with the Iyengar family on several occasions.


Rod Stennard

Rod Stennard

Rod started practicing Iyengar Yoga whilst at Art School in Melbourne in the early 1990s. After attending workshops with Pixie whilst living in Tasmania, he continued studying with her when he moved to Sydney in 2001. He went on to complete teacher training in 2004 and is a Certified Introductory Level Two teacher. He has studied with the Iyengar family at their Institute in Pune, India and teaches yoga full-time.


Philip Hersch

Philip started learning yoga in 1989. He began his teacher training in Israel and continued with Pixie on returning to Australia in 1995. He was certified Introductory 2 in 1997 and has been teaching at the studio since then. He regularly returns to the Institute in Pune to learn with the Iyengar family.
